Philly Cheese Steak Casserole
Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 cup yellow onions, diced
1 1/2 cups green peppers, diced
1 3/4 cups water, divided
1 (0.87-ounce) package brown gravy mix
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups pre made baking mix, such as Bisquick
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 cups mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend, shredded
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Add the beef to a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Cook, crumbling the beef, for about 4-5 minutes.
Add the diced onions and green peppers. Cook, while stirring, until the beef is fully cooked, about 3-4 minutes. Drain the fat from the pan.
Add 1 cup water, the gravy mix, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, cooking and stirring until no liquid remains at the bottom of the pan. Remove the pan from the heat.
Add the baking mix and 3/4 cup water to a separate bowl, stirring until no large lumps remain. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Add the mayonnaise to the sauté pan with the ground beef mixture, stirring well.
Spoon the beef mixture over the batter in the baking dish. Sprinkle the cheese on top of the ground beef mixture.
Bake until the cheese starts to brown on top and the batter is browned at the bottom of the pan, about 35-38 minutes.
Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
