Hibachi Style Fried Rice
Ingredients
2 cups previously cooked long-grain white rice
1/4 cup carrots, finely chopped
1/4 cup peas
1 egg
1/2 cup white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon canola oil, for frying
Sauce:
2 tablespoons less-sodium soy sauce
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
Cook the rice following the package instructions, then set it aside to cool.
While the rice cools, chop up all of the vegetables to be very fine, set it aside.
To make the sauce, soften the butter, but make sure that it is not melted. Then, stir in soy sauce and garlic powder with the butter. Mix it all together and set it aside.
Using a large skillet or a wok (if you have one, but it’s not necessary), and heat the oil on until it is hot. Add in the vegetables next to the hot oil and cook for around 2-3 minutes, or until just it has softened. Add in the rice and stir in the sauce as well. Cook for another 5 minutes and add a beaten egg. Cook for 2-3 additional minutes, stirring every once in a while.
