German Apple Cake

Ingredients

For the dough:
4 cup flour
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs
⅞ cup (=14 tablespoons) butter unsalted, softened

For the filling:
2 ¼ to 2 ½ pounds apples peel, core, and cut into slices
1 large lemon juiced
½ cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Grease a 9-inch springform pan.

Combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, and softened butter in a large bowl. Use a mixer and blend everything until crumbles begin to form.

Take ⅔ of the crumble mixture and press it into the base of the pan. Raise the dough about 1 inch high along the sides of the springform.

Mix the apple slices, lemon juice, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.

Pour the apple mixture into the springform pan. Sprinkle the remaining dough crumbles over the apples.

Place the springform pan on the middle rack and bake for 45-50 minutes.
