Lisa’s Easy Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
1 Teaspoon dry mustard
1 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon pepper
1/2 Teaspoon paprika
1/4 Teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 Teaspoon Thyme
1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1/4 Teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
5 cups thinly sliced peeled potatoes about 6 medium
1/2 cup chopped onion
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°.
In a large pan, melt butter over low heat. Whisk in flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, Thyme, nutmeg (optional), and cayenne pepper (optional) until smooth.
Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil. Cook, continually stirring for 2 minutes or until thickened.
Remove from heat. Add the cheese and stir until melted.
Add potatoes and onion and stir until coated with cheese mixture.
Spray a 9×12 baking dish with non-stick spray. Add potatoes to the baking dish.
Cover and bake 1 hour. Uncover; bake 20-30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
