Cheeseburger Hand Pies
Ingredients
2 pounds ground chuck
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
½ sweet yellow onion diced
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
4 slices American sliced cheese or your favorite cheese
16.3 ounces Pillsbury Original Crescent Rounds
Ketchup
Yellow mustard
Dill pickle relish optional
4 tablespoons salted butter melted
Flake sea salt freshly ground black pepper, smoked paprika and dried parsley
Directions
Adjust oven rack to middle position and preheat to 375°F. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
Brown the ground chuck in a large skillet set over medium heat. Drain the beef on a paper towel-lined plate.
In the same skillet, cook the onion until softened and translucent. Add the browned beef, salt, pepper and onion & garlic powders. Stir well and cook 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Separate the Crescent Rounds into individual pieces and, on a lightly floured work surface, roll each into a 6-inch round.
Take one of the rounds and place ¼ cup beef mixture in the middle of the dough, leaving about ½-inch border all around. Drizzle the beef with ketchup, mustard and pickle relish (if using). Top with ½ slice of American cheese.
Bring the sides of the dough up (from the base) in thirds and pinch the dough together at the top center. The burger hand pie will be slightly shaped like a triangle. Place the hand pie on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all hand pies are done.
Brush the hand pies with melted butter and sprinkle with flake sea salt, black pepper, paprika and dried parsley.
Bake at 375°F for 20-30 minutes or until Cheeseburger Pies are golden brown.
Cool 5 minutes before serving.
